The concept that the “simpler the form of a letter the simpler its reading” was an obsession of beginning constructivism. It became something like a dogma, and is still followed by modernistic typographers. This notion has proved to be wrong, because in reading we do not read letters but words, words as a whole, as a “word picture.”
(Why this suddenly makes macro and micro information so clear to me all of a sudden.. I have no idea).
Josef Albers, Interaction of ColorMacho, Macho, Man
Last night Ruben expressed great machismo when escorting Erin and Aarika last night to the Chuckbox.
If you don’t know what machismo is, the definition is as follows:
Machismo
Excessive masculinity expressed in various forms and contexts. Branches from the mother culture of Mexico and Central America.
Get your machismo on.
Nicknames
As of the second Tuesday of September, Andrew acquired new nickname, it is:
mr. snackie (pronounced snack’y). Not smacky, smacking your food is a horrid habit.
Mr. Snackies Personal attributes: ability to make food (especially cookies) appear from nowhere
We still need nicknames for Rube, Zach, and Erin.. thoughts?
As for me.. I guess Big Tuna is here to stay, even though I may protest :)
MmmMmm good.
For Design Rhetoric I chose to read a book about the life work of Josef Muller-Brockmann.. it was an extensive read, but when I finished it I cried.. don’t ask why, but the book finished with this quote by Paul Rand:
“My thoughts concerning M.B. may perhaps best be summed up by this geometric analogy:
So the circle is perfect, so is his integrity.
As the square is simple, so is his work.
As the triangle is strong, so are his beliefs.”
Well said Paul Rand. Well said.
